Jacques Cartier was himself captivated by the beauty of this bay during his second journey in l535. And it was here, where the Saguenay River Fjord meets the St Lawrence River, that Pierre de Chauvin (1599) and Samuel de Champlain (1603) later wrote the first pages of european history in North america. In 1600, Tadoussac was the site of the first official fur trading post in Canada. In 1866, the Tadoussac and Sea Barhing Co. built in Tadoussac the first red roof hotel, which shines like a beckoning light. <br>Year and after year, some 600,000 visitors are fascinated by the beauty of this natural site and the wealth of its heritage.
