Beautiful Ship Cove (the starting place of the Captain Cook Trail and Queen Charlotte Track) is one of New Zealands true historic places, and still lies largely undisturbed by man. Captain Cook sheltered here several times during his discovery voyages to New Zealand around 1770. <br> A large monument sits near the beach to mark Cooks part in the history of New Zealand.
