Located on Grand Bahama, Lucaya is unlike anything else in the Caribbean. It is American in style with wide lined streets, spacious suburbs, and a population of 40,000. Before the 60's, Freeport and Lucaya did not exist. The Bahamian government signed over 50,000 acres to an American businessman to develop as a free port - hence the name today.
