East Glacier is easily accessible by train (Amtrak's depot is centrally located in town), by plane (Glacier International Airport in Kalispell is only 79 miles away and Great Falls International Airport at 132 miles away), or by car by US Highway 2. It is the perfect point to start, headquarter, or end your visit to Glacier national Park. The people are friendly here and the beautiful location will make your visit something special. East Glacier park is located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, encompassing 1.5 million acres from the Rocky mountains to the Great Plains. It is the home to the Amskapi Pikuni Band of the Blackfeet nation. We invite you to share in their rich culture and traditions, especially visible the second week of July during the annual North American Indian Days in Browning. East Glacier Park will provide you with the largest variety of facilities and supplies available in the area. We have many attractions including the magnificent historic Glacier Park Lodge. The Lodge offers many features including a swimming pool, and a challenging nine hole golf course open to the public. Other accommodations include comfortable modern hotels, some AAA rated; a youth hostel, RV parks and campgrounds, a cafeteria, snack bars, delis and fine restaurants serving various cuisines. We also have a general store, grocery stores, service stations, lounges with live entertainment, laundromats, a variety of gift shops, a museum of local interest, an antique shop, car and bicycle rentals, horseback riding, and nearby picnic areas. If you wish, our helpful merchants can suggest an itinerary for backpacking excursions, whitewater rafting trips, scenic boat launch cruises, world class fishing, and tours on the famous Going to the Sun Road, or cultural tours of the Blackfeet Reservation and surrounding area. The park is truly a photographer's and fisherman's paradise, starting with the best kept secret, Two Medicine Valley. This area of Glacier National Park offers an exhilarating day of exploration and is just minutes from East Glacier Park. There are both easy and challenging hiking trails leading around Middle Two Medicine lake and Upper Two Medicine lake, with several breathtaking waterfalls between the lakes on the Two Medicine River. For a bird's eye view of this fantastic drainage, a short but steep climb will take you to Scenic Point, on trails leaving either Glacier Park Lodge or the Two Medicine Campground. Boat tours of the Middle Lake are available or you may choose fishing in lakes that have produced two of Montana's state record fish.
