Coxen Hole, locally known as Roatan City, is the largest town and the capital of the Bay Islands. Coxen Hole is the major hub for politics on Roatan with the municipal, immigration, court house, hospital clinic, and banks centrally located. Although there are not many tourist attractions in the city there are some very nice gift shops and island restaurants. The rich culture of the island people that make up Coxen Hole makes for a unique atmosphere that most people find very intriguing. The city is also the gateway to Roatan where the ferry boats from the mainland and other Bay Islands arrives. The airport is located on the out skirts of the city that is actually within walking distance if you feel up to exercise. There is regular bus service and taxi service to West End, French Harbor and Oak Ridge.
