Nagato is a coastal city in the south of Japan's Honshu Island. It's known for the Motonosumi Inari Shrine, whose hilltop entrance path passes through 123 traditional red torii gates. Nearby, the Yuya Terraced Rice Fields offer panoramic views over Yuya Bay. Off the coast to the north, Omi Island has beaches, cliffs and striking rock formations. To the south, Nagato Yumoto Onsen is a centuries-old hot spring resort.
