Matarani is located some 452 miles South from Callao, serves the South Peruvian Region as well as the Bolivian cities of Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Oruro, La Paz and Potosí. The port was given in concession to the private operators Terminal Internacional del Sur S.A. back in 1,999. Since then, TISUR has developed and constantly increased the transit of Bolivian cargoes through its terminal, in direct competition with Arica in Chile. Its influence area is expected to increase when the several integration projects with Brasil and Bolivia will be materialized.
