Situated at the northern tip of Québec, alongside Hudson Strait, Cape Wolstenholme covers a surface area of 1,263 km2. This site is characterized by cliffs over 300 m in height plunging directly into the sea, with spectacular fjords at numerous locations. Cape Wolstenholme and the islands opposite it are home to the third biggest colony of thick-billed murre in North America with close to 600,000 birds.<br> The region has been occupied almost continually for approximately 4,000 years by the Pre-Dorset and the Dorset and, more recently, by the direct ancestors of the modern Inuit. The Cape was named by Henry Hudson in 1610 after Sir John Wolstenholme, who financed a part of his voyage.
