Namenalala resembles a sleeping dragon, rising dramatically from the sea. At the highest point tourists will find evidence of its mystic past in the remains of an ancient ring fortification. There are no unnecessary luxuries but a natural experience with nature and water has top priority with a reef boasting more than 100 types of coral and colored fish. The resort is located on a portion of the “tail” of the dragon. Five comfortable, hexagon-shaped bures (Polynesian-style houses) made from timber and woven bamboo, for a maximum of 10 guests, are hidden among tall native trees on the ridge. Each bure has spectacular views of reefs and beaches, a king-size canopy bed, two bathrooms and a wrap-around deck. The islands own garden produces a range of tropical fruits and vegetables, which are incorporated into the island’s unique cuisine. The island specialty is heart of palm served shortly after harvesting. Lunch is served buffet-style and wine is complimentary with dinner.
