Scoresbysund, the Danish name, was founded with 70 colonists who came with Ejnar Mikkelsen by ship in 1925 from Ammassalik. Today, the municipality, about the size of Great Britain, has less than 700 people in its district. Scoresbysund with its side fjords is the largest fjord complex in the world. The vast Scoresby Sund fjord is the longest in the world.
