The Wessel Islands are to the north of Gove and extend about 300 km out into the Arafura Sea. They are surrounded by areas of reef with deep-water drop-offs. Channels between some of the islands are quite narrow, with spectacular tidal races on bigger tides, and require very careful navigation. The Hole In The Wall between Raragala and Guluwuru Islands is one such channel.
