Wintergreen is one of the most popular day-trip ski destinations in the Southeast, located only forty-three miles from Charlottesville, Virginia. It's an 11,000-acre resort high in Virginia's beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Bordering on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Wintergreen hosts skiers from as far away as Washington, DC, 145 miles from the resort. Because of its unique setting nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shanandoah Valley, Wintergreen is one of the few resorts in the East where visitors can ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon. The city of Charlottesville, forty-three miles away, is the home of the University of Virginia, and feels much more like a college town than a southern city. Wintergreen is forty-three miles southwest of Charlottesville via I-64 and Routes 635 and 151. Charlottesville-Albermarle Airport is served by most major airlines. Another option is to fly into Richmond International, 113 miles from Wintergreen via I-64. There is a shuttle system to get employees living in the county to and from work.
