Havre de Grace is located at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay; situated approximately 40 miles northeast of Baltimore and 45 miles south of Philadelphia. It is easily accessible from I-95 (Exit89) and U.S.40. It was incorporated as a town in 1785 and almost voted the capital of the United states by the US Congress. The city is rich with tradition and history as a commercial port, a fishing and canning center and Decoy Capital of the World. The city also boasts a waterfront promenade and nature walk along the River and the Bay. Four private marinas, as well as the City owned and operated Municipal Yacht basin offer superior service to boaters. City owned parks, both large and small, provide extensive recreational opportunities to the City's residents and visitors.
