As soon as visitors arrive in Joigny they are captivated by the brown roofs tightly nestled against each other. The vineyards of the Côte Saint-Jacques are placed high on the hillside to catch the sun. They produce a fine "vin gris", once drunk by kings and still appreciated by connoisseurs. Having crossed the beautiful 18C stone bridge, visitors discover - somewhat to their relief! - vast parking lots by the banks of the Yonne. These are a boon because it quickly becomes apparent that Joigny is a town to be visited on foot.
