The town of Xiangxi sits on the north bank at the confluence of the Xiangxi River and the Yangtze. On the east of the town, the limpid, green Xiangxi River, like a jade belt, flows lazily from afar into the Yangtze, Baoping, a village on the Xiangxi River, is the birthplace of Wang Zhaojun, the celebrated imperial concubine of the Han Dynasty.
