Traveling northwest along the Sunshine Coast on Highway 101, past Sechelt, you can turn onto Redroofs Road to reach Halfmoon Bay. Wilderness campsites are available at Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park, and there's great birdwatching at Sargeant Bay Provincial Park. Welcome Passage also provides a paddling route from Brooks Cove. Kayak/canoe camping is available. Care is needed paddling through Welcome Passage due to the high numbers of large vessels moving through this small channel, it creates extremely large wakes. The large wakes combined with windy weather conditions makes this section of water treacherous. There are kayak rentals available outside the park at Halfmoon Bay.
