Gulluk is a small resort surrounded by the pinetopped hills of the Gulluk Korfezi (Gulf of Mandalya) on the southern Aegean coast of Turkey. Protected by the outlying Dodecanese islands, you'll understand why they call this part of the Aegean the Turquoise Coast when you see the startling blue colour of the water. Those who would like to explore a little ancient history can opt for a visit to nearby Iassos or further afield to Didyma, where the Greeks worshipped Apollo in the town's ruined temple. The site at Iassos covers a headland completely surrounded by the sea but the ruins are dissapointing. Nearby is a Roman mausolem while inside the Hellenistic city wall there is a well-preserved Roman bouleuterion, the agora with a partially restored Roman colonnade, Caesarium, Temple of Demeter and Kore, a small theatre and a medieval castle.
