Sandefjord with its largest collection of Viking royal graves in the northern Europe, Viking ships buried in Gokstadhaugen and Osebergshaugen and with Norway's best-known marketplace Kaupang coupled with later times whale hunting centre for Norway makes it a unique location.Whale ship "Southern Actor" in the port of Sandefjord was rebuilt in 80,000 Hours, representing the history of whaling in Norway. Sandefjord was the centre for this activity from World War I to 1950's. Johannes Aagaard was a well-known merchant of his day, and owned 20 fine sailing ships and several buildings in Sandefjord,and "Aagaards plass", now a market square in the middle of town, still named after Johannes Aagaard.
