Ahe, the neighboring atoll to Manihi is situated 15 km west from this one and 1h10 hour flight from Tahiti. Since the opening of the airport, Ahe began to open up and develop tourism but the main island's industries are copra, fishing and cultured-pearl production. Like in Manihi this activity has condiderably developed. The village of Tenukupara is on the south-west side. For the moment, there is only one family lodge on Ahe, which has remained a very wild atoll.
