Spencer Spit State Park is a 138-acre marine and camping park situated on Lopez Island in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The park is named for the lagoon-enclosing sand spit on which it rests. The park's main feature is a quarter-mile long sand spit that contains a saltwater lagoon marsh. The park also contains an archaeological Indian campsite. The park has a reputation for excellent crabbing, clamming, and boating. In addition, the park features camping, picnicking, beachcombing and birdwatching. This is the only state park on Lopez Island and one of the few in the San Juan Islands accessible both by land and water.
