The town of Riedenburg is located in the heart of BAVARIA, right between Munich and Nuremberg in the Altmühl Valley Nature Reserve. The next exit from highway A 9 is Denkendorf. Hundreds of thousands of day visitors and holidaymakers come every year to this town, where nature has created a magnificent landscape in the course of millians of years. A town with three castles: Rabenstein and Tachenstein, two of the fortresses atop the rocky heights are in ruins, but the third one, Rosenburg Castle, Riedenburg‘s best known building, is still full of life today. It houses a falconry centre together with the Museum of Falconry, and the flying displays with falcons, kites and eagles attract visitors from far and wide. Flying displays are every day at 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. except Monday. Call for a taxi for transfer to the castle by 09442/1729 There are two other castles in the vicinity: Eggersberg Castle, now an exclusive hotel and restaurant, combined with the fascinating County Museum. Prunn Castle, which enjoys great fame as the epitome of a mediaeval knight‘s castle.
