Approached form the Strait of Georgia by way of Jervis Inlet, Princess Louisa Inlet is far inland. Glaciation carved a granite-walled gorge through the snow-tipped mountains. The ocean waters move constantly with the tides, but the currents are almost non-existent except for the rapids at the entrance of the inlet. There are waterfalls from the melting snow pack until mid-June. Approach by boat from the Strait of Georgia by way of Jervis Inlet. Called by the natives "Suivoolot", meaning sunny and warm. Except for aircraft, the sea is the only way there. James F. "Mac" Macdonald first saw Princess Louisa Inlet in 1919. He remembered the beauty of the inlet as he travelled the world. In 1926, after striking it rich in Nevada, Mac was able to attain his real Eldorado: Princess Louisa Inlet. He obtained the land surrounding Chatterbox Falls in 1927, and built a log cabin that was destroyed by fire in 1940. He acted as host to visiting yachtsmen & sailors.
