Puerto Escondido, which literally means “Hidden Port”, was named in memory of the ancient galleons that entered this tiny, almost totally enclosed bay, seeking shelter from storms. An ambitious tourist development is planned for this spot, including an enormous nautical club with hotels, docks, and marinas. In the surrounding area, there are attractive beaches with soft waves and fine sand, as well as campsites like the one at Tripui Bay: complete with hookups for mobile homes and all services.
