The city of Puerto Natales is located 247 Kms. to the north west of the regional capital, Punta Arenas. It is geographically located at the sea level, on the seashore of the Señoret Channel, in front of the Patagonian Mountain Range. It has a population of about 20.500 inhabitants, and it is part of the geographic unit called the PATAGONIA. The main access routes to this place are by land, by the Route 9 that joins Punta Arenas - Puerto Natales. There are other choices, like the border crossings (Argentina) of Casas Viejas and Dorotea. By sea, you can sail from Puerto Montt on a ferry. Every tourist season, lots of tourist ships sail through the Señoret Channel until the Antarctic or the Southern Glaciers. Natales has also an airport equipped for commercial or tourist flights. This is a city visited by a huge number of tourists, who enjoy the gastronomy and other tourist services offered by this region.
