Of the six States and two Territories which comprise the Commonwealth of Australia, Victoria has the second largest population although it ranks only sixth in area. The State is bordered in the south by 1,200 kilometres of ocean coastline, the southern-most point is at Wilsons Promontory. The eastern-most point is at Cape Howe and in the north the State is bounded principally by the Murray River. Eastern Standard Time in Victoria is 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
