The Wright brothers lived in Dayton, so it's not surprising that many of its attractions center on aviation. The Wright brothers' original workshop was moved to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, but visitors can see the Wright Cycle Shop (a replica of the workshop in which they designed and built their first airplane) at Carillon Historical Park. The park has other exhibits, too, ranging from a 1700s tavern to a 1912 Cadillac. The U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has more than 130 airplanes and missiles on display, as well as exhibits that trace the history of flight. An IMAX theater and the National Aviation Hall of Fame are also there. The Dayton Air Show is held every summer (usually in mid July). Tour the interiors of different kinds of aircraft parked in the museum's hangars and enjoy the spectacular air shows. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate Dayton's reputation as the "Bicycling Capital of the Midwest." More than 150 mi/242 km of bike trails wind their way throughout the area. Creekside Trail, which measures 11 mi/18 km, is the area's longest. Avid walkers should consider the Country Common Walk in the Glen Hellen Nature Preserve in nearby Yellow Springs. It follows the scenic Little Miami River. And don't miss the Raptor Center, near the Glen Hellen Trailside Museum, where injured birds of prey are rehabilitated.
